Meeting Recap: Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors

At their November 9, 2022 meeting the Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors again took action on regulations implementing the changes to the licensing law made earlier this year.

Specifically, the Board voted to propose regulations addressing temporary licensure and licensing reciprocity under the new law. Following the same protocol as they did at their September 21, 2022 meeting regarding the regulations no public comment was taken. The Board’s vote was simply a procedural requirement to officially propose the regulations in the New Jersey Register. Once proposed in the New Jersey Register the public will have an opportunity to review and comment. The Board is required to respond to all comments submitted.

NJ-IEC inquired if there were more regulations to be voted on prior to the proposed regulations being published. The Board responded there were not and both the action taken on September 21, 2022 and the action taken today would appear in one comprehensive proposal.

NJ-IEC will continue to keep members apprised of our engagement on this issue.
